If you happen to be in Victoria BC or more specifically Sidney BC on April 9th or 10th be sure to come out to the Mary Winspear Centre to the Go Figure Art Show featuring Nicholas Pearce and 30 of his students (I being one of them). All the images in the show were painted using a 1.5 inch paint brush and only 4 colours.
I like to run and frequently find myself running along the ocean on Beach Drive. One sunny morning I was greeted by this happy little fellow - I don't know who put him there but he too seemed to enjoy the view!
Well I have never been a Facebook person but I have finally decided to engage in at least a little social media - I have opted for Google+. Why? well, I like their slogan "do no evil". I don't think that has ever been the intent of Facebook. What I have so far found that I really like is the massive art and science communities that exists on G+. I find myself spending way too much time looking at many of the posted images of great art - quite inspiring!
Oh look there I am:
I believe that all of our experiences, perceptions and emotions can and will emerge, given the chance, in and through the art individuals create.
My artistic journey is focused on exploring communication of life’s conscious and sub conscious experiences and perceptions through abstract representational work. I have been fortunate to have enjoyed a varied, interesting and challenging life (so far) and through art I continually find or uncover meaning, emotions and feelings within my completed work. At times my own understanding of the symbolism or emotions related to the work are not evident for months or even years after works are complete.
I am inspired by many artists and styles and this broad interest if very evident though the diverse works ranging from portraits to pure abstracts that I like to paint.
In my abstract paintings, I utilize elements of process painting and ‘loose’ painterly representation. Recently I have completed a small series that explored the elements of contemporary expression. The acrylic works isolate and boldly present snapshots of select ‘tools’ used for individual expression and use colour and space to provide ambiance.
Welcome to my website! Once you have a chance to view some of the images please provide some comments. Even hate mail is better than no feedback at all :^)
I like art... there it is, one of my biggest issues! The problem is it is incredibly challenging to produce what I believe is wonderful art. I wish it was't but perhaps that is why I love it and continually strive to do my best whenever I am creating.
