My work in trauma focuses on integration. When you have experienced a traumatic event, there are competing urges about how to respond. One is to avoid, deflect, deny. The desire to not ever think about what happened ever again is a natural and common response. Alternately, the experience may be overwhelming, completely consuming, making it difficult to think about anything else. In my work with clients, we explore how both of these responses have pros and cons and can be useful at various points in ones journey. We work together to move beyond either/or thinking into a perspective of both/and which allows for integration of the experience into ones e life while also being able to continue to grow and develop beyond the trauma. I am honored to be present alongside my clients in the course of this healing process.
